I brewed a braggot witbier and I primed it with honey. I know that you are supposed to let it sit for 2 weeks but I cracked one open a week after bottling and the head is insanely thick. If you wait a while the head will go down but when you first pour it in a glass it's crazy thick...will this go away as time goes on? Or is it over carbonate...The taste is spectacular, just to much head.

8 oz Flaked Oats
Held at 160 F for 20 minutes.*
Added 6 lbs Wheat LME and 3.3 lbs Pilsen LME.*
Boil for one hour with the following hop schedule.*
1 oz Hallertuaer for 1 hour.*
0.25 oz coriander seed for 10 minutes.*
Zest and juice of 1 blood orange for 5 minutes.*
1 oz of Citra at flameout.*
3/4 lbs of Orange Blossom honey at flameout.*
Pitched 2 pack of Wyeast 3944 Belgian Witbier.

If the carbonation level seems OK when you taste it, and it isn't spewing out of the bottle, the carbonation level is probably fine. Over a period of time, some of the substances that create foam may bind and precipitate giving you less foam, but it sounds like you just need to work on your technique for pouring. It you do it gently, down the side of the glass, you should be able to control it.

To me it seems it may be a little over carbed with a cup of honey, for a 5 gallon batch (assuming 5 gallon batch.)
But witbiers are known for their big fluffy heads as well. Between the oats and the wheat, that will create the right environment for a nice creamy head, so I don't think you have any problems really. Just pour it very gently and enjoy!

Glad to hear it turned out well. Most beer brewers are worried about not having enough head. You don't have any problems!

The head is often from proteins, fatty acids, and other charged, yet hydrophobic compounds... Beers with a lot of proteins and carbonation will have a large amount of head.
That means it is totally OKAY to work out and drink that beer!
