Sweet Desire is an outstanding sweet dessert mead. Probably in the top 3 mead's I've had out of 40 something mead's I've tried.

SD is a little lighter in flavor than Moniack, which is one of the best mead's I've come across. But all in all, it is pretty close to it. Both have similar alcohol content.

SD is expensive...but one must pay for the excellence. A great drink for the holidays!

Ooh, Moniack in the old octagonal bottle... that stuff's hard to get, I have one rectangular bottle left that's gotta be 5 or 10 years old... one of these days I will crack it open, I haven't had any commercial meads since I started making my own!

You ain't kidding it is hard to get...in any shape of bottle!

I used to pay the girlfriend of the Canadian distributor to ship / smuggle 6 bottle at a time to me.

I wonder if Moniack added other stuff to their mead? I remember corresponding back in the 1990's with the maker. He wrote me on a typewriter. (from what I recall) Said it was made from caramelized heather honey. Have found few meads to approach it.

The bottle in the photo is about 11 years old. Drank a bottle last year and it was great.

The tale about keeping wine on their side to keep the corks moist may be fiction. I kept the last 2 bottle of Moniack upright for a decade as I forgot I even had them. The pullout corks keep the mead fine. (Then again it may be a fluke...so don't hold me to it!)
