I think you're probably right about the yearly reports to the crown.

Also, I read down a little further and saw that at the bottom of the page they are indeed incorporated, and there is language in the other "Laws" that reinforce my belief they are a non-profit, especially with a federal tax ID. This is a good thing because in order to maintain non-profit standing the by-laws, financial reports (generally a balance sheet and Federal/State Tax Returns) and any local fiscal/tax status filings must be filed annually or the organization will have it's tax-free status and it's incorporation charter revoked.

Might be worth checking into.

I saw the guild charter portion as well, could be the path of least resistance. Worse comes to worse, you can always use one to leverage the other.
