Am I the only one who doesn't understand all these codes? Anyone got a quick linky to the biological names of the yeasts, rather than Federation Starship registrations??

I believe most of the numbers related to the "strain" of yeast (or number of attempts to isolate the strain) in the laboratory.

Many thanks for that, the brewery.org FAQ answered my question, as the American National Honey Board reccomended Saccaromyces Cerevisiae, which brewery.org identified as a dry ale yeast (Also the same one as Allinsons Dried Active Yeast here in the UK). Their profile identifies Lalvin as S Bayanus.

The Lallemand site specifically lists only some of the yeasts as being S. C. Bayanus.
Click on the yeast name in the reference chart for more details, but I am assuming the ones that don't specifically mention the S. C. Bayanus are therefore not.
