Using GoFerm in place of DME beer yeast starter?

I've made dozens of batches or wine/mead, but only a handful of beer batches. I've used the standard DME starter for liquid beer yeasts in the past.

Has anyone here used GoFerm to rehydrate their dry beer yeast in place of making a DME starter? Since it takes 1-2 days to make the DME starter, using the GoFerm would speed things up. This would be great if some extra brewing time becomes immediately and/or unexpectedly available.

How does a GoFerm starter affect the final beer's taste compared to a DME starter?

Thanks to all the beer brewers for their advice.

I use GoFerm for rehydrating all dry yeast whether for mead or beer. The only difference I've noticed is less off flavors in the beer since I started using GoFerm.

For dry yeast, I just rehydrate and pitch. No starter necessary. I might use 2-3 packs if it is a really big beer. I reserve starters for liquid yeast as the cell count is a lot lower.

Better brewing through science!

I had not previously seen anything in these forums about using GoFerm with dry beer yeast.

I was hoping that was the answer. Much thanks.
