Got 3 vehicles:
- 2003 Ford F250 4x4 Diesel (60,000 miles), for pulling the RV and hauling hay and/or the horses,
- my little 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon w/118,000 miles (gods, I *love* my Scoobie!), which is my daily driver, and stealth Mom-wagon - you should *see* her accelerate, even at her age. Soon I'm going to start updating her with new performance parts......
- and our 1995 Ford full size Bronco XLT (200,000 miles), which we updated by putting in a re-built 351 engine and new transmission when the old one blew last fall.

Took the Scoobie to Pennsic last year, and got a whole weeks' worth of SCA gear into the inside and the topper. This year, I'll probably take the pickup or the Bronco, as I hope to have a pavilion of my own.

But for all that your S.O. would probably trade them all for a decent HUMMER. ::) :P ;D

Oh yeah, he would, in a New York Minute. He *told* me he was 'easy, but never cheap' when I married him.....now, several trucks, 2 RVs and a boatload of guns later, I think I see what he was saying.....LOL

1) 91' Honda civic hatchback. "All you need is 3 doors!" Totalled in a wreck a week ago, but in the shop and returning from the dead. Only 140K miles and reliable. Love my hatchback.
2) Recently repaired/tuned up mt bike for local trips (or long excursions).
3) My own two feet.

We have a 95 Honda Accord, but ride our bikes or use the bus as much as my health issues will allow. My partner drives me to work in the morning, but I take the bus home.

When our current car bites the dust, we are hoping to get one with a diesel engine we can modify for vegetable oil.

Abejita,

Excellent. Exactly what I am planning on. It will most likely be the VW Jetta TDI or the Golf TDI. I am actually working with a friend on designing the equipment to make biodiesel from used vegetable oil. I get excited to hear others talk about this type of fuel and support it 100%.

As for now, a Toyota Corolla. It gives me an average of 34 mpg.

Wrathwilde,

I actually had a guy pull up in a H1 and offer me an even trade for my Scout. I laughed so hard I'm afraid I offended him... ;D

I Luv my Scout!!

My brother has a 74 Scout II that needs LOTS of work - an Ebay oh sh...oot... what did I get my self into..
We've talked a bit about putting a diesel in that - and a biodiesel would be really cool. Big Bad and Environmentally friendly!

Main driver is a chevy Tahoe used to pull the camper or boat. Need all the room for the wife and three dogs. My wife has a 2003 PT cruiser, very fun little car to run around town with. Also ride a 2002 Suzuki Savage motorcycle which gets 60 mpg when not riding hard. Another project is a '69 Ducati Monza 250cc motorcycle which was my late brother's bike. Found it in pieces scattered around his garage after his death and just had to put it back together again.

I drive the ever-so-macho '92 Plymouth Voyager minivan, and my wife gets the sexy new '98 Ford Aerostar.

What can I say? Kids with football practices, baseball practices and guitar lessons (not to mention my massive honey and malt purchases) make mini-vans the drive of convenience.

2002 VW Jetta wagon - i voted station wagon, even though it technically isn't really a station wagon.....kind of a "gee some day I'll be a station wagon, I hope!"

Yeah, I'm sure even President Clinton would have liked to trade the HUMMER he got for something sexier. ;)

That hummer had a wide back end... More like a Pacer. It also wound up blowing up... Like a Pinto.

1995 Jeep Wrangler I bought third hand from my brother's former boss. Picked it up with just under 70k miles on it, and I am now pushing just under 90k miles. The thing is a real trooped, never has a problem I cant fix, and all she ever asks for is twelve gallons of gas once a week. She is always topless, because she has no real top to put on and, in south Texas, I just can't justify actually spending money for a top because we hardly ever get any rain down here. Finally, the neighborhood pothead stole my stereo and hawked it for a dime bag. I now drive in silence, except for when I sing, but the neighborhood pot head has two years in juvie and a criminal record for the rest of his life to look forward to. I guess I came out on top in that one.

2000 Jeep Wrangler rag top. A little cold in the winter but it's 4x4 and has really narly tires.

Sorry if this is wordy but...

I also have two "vehicles"

The first is a 1984 Ford Ranger with a topper and a rebuilt engine, "the Franken Truck". It got its name because it is 4 different colors, in fact the rear and front come from different years, and so while the front is the original “blocky” look of the eighties, the rear is rounded and reflective green. The muffler is tied on with coat hangers, the front end is a little busted up (no grill) and the turn signal casing was broken, but the light worked, so I wrapped a honey bottle in yellow tape and put it over the bulb. The headlights and turn signals on that side are screwed into the frame with lath and machine screws. Currently I don’t drive it--it sounds like a lawn mower, and with the carburetor going, it gets almost the same mileage.

That leaves the entropy machine, an olde Schwin bike that was spray painted white. I've named it such because it's one of these things--don’t think I don’t work on it, I do--a lot--but it's like a sculpture or monument to entropy. No matter what you do, there will always be another, yet it is always essentially "rideable" It's in rough shape: the front wheel shakes violently at high speeds, it gets chronic flat tires (I just carry a wrench and patch kit with me all the time) the front brake cable is severed, and wrapped around the handlebars. Best of all is the rear fender, which is loose and wags back and forth like a happy dog as a cart down the street. I only get high and low gear on it so I'm getting pretty strong flying around town on it. The fender knocks against the spokes, so like the Franken truck you can hear me approaching for over a block most of the time.

1992 Ford F-350 crewcab flatbed. It's got a big 460 (7.5L for my overseas friends), gets 10 MPG, single-handedly destroys the atmosphere, and takes up two spaces in the parking lot. I love it.
