Hello All,

Having experimented with producing mead on a small personal scale, I would like to look at possibly setting up on a micro brewery level and have begun my research but have no idea where to start or what equipment would be needed from a professional production stand point of view.

Can anyone suggest a good book or would be willing to offer advice from lessons learned?

At the very least I have this: I talked to someone with the city (Minneapolis) and she said that alcohol licensing is federal. You need to talk with the ATF about obtaining a license (apparently a link on their web page) brewery licensing is dept of Ag. So to find out what kind of requirements there are about a brewery (location equipment etc) you need to talk to them (also web page I presume)
 
It's a good idea to start with a book. I read "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Starting a Winery." It was helpful.

I'd also recommend finding out what assistance is offered by your local Small Business Administration.

Contact your state alcohol regulatory body, and check out their web presence as thoroughly as you can.

Be prepared for a lot of long days. There will be many ahead of you. If you don't like the idea of working much harder for much less, give this a lot of thought.
