Ah, but this logic does go in both directions. There is also no constitutional basis for pro-"pick a cause" legislation. Whether that cause be Gay rights, Minority rights, or whatever. "All men are created equal." I see one side of the isle working on legislation to quantify rights, and essentially force a certain lifestyle or belief upon others. While the other says, do what you want within the confines of the law, just don't force your views upon those who don't want it. When a community accepts something, it's a majority opinion.

I also agree that there are too many judges, at all levels, that are adding meanings, and rights, that are not in the Constitution and calling it a "Living Document". I strongly disagree with that. Judges are not empowerd to change the Constitution, they are there to interpret it. The only method in which it can be changed, as has been stated, is through the ammendment process.

the more research i do on this whole subject of the constitution and our government the more i see how out if control it really is. ive been spreading the word here and there whenever it comes up in convo i try to get people to at least read about him. i think ive recruited a few believers so far... im seeing more and more signs up on the road and on cars around UCF (orlando, fl). i hope that this works out and we can get our government under control before things go to much farther than they already have....

When did you start wearin ties? (I always hated wearing ties until I realized where the point)

Ron had an amazing fund raising day a couple weeks back. I was out there on the wire for about half a day before the newzies publishe as much negative press about Ron as they could to marginalize the fundraising success.

On the pocket constitution. I don't know if I can find them or not, but I used to have the cool little pocket constitutions with a primer on "the power of the jury" and how everyone should fight tooth and nail to sit on a jury. It's one of the most effective weapons we have as citizens to marginalize stupid and unconstitutional laws.

Yes! I absolutely concur!! My next jury call is for November 28, and I'm looking forward to "reading" the attorneys on both sides well enough to present just the right balance of answers to their voir dire questions, to avoid being challenged. I take a kind of perverse pride in having enough wits about me to have been successfully selected on three past juries -- out of three calls. I'm hoping to make it four for four.

It is sad that we have to "game" the system in order to ensure that at least a few rational, thinking individuals actually get to sit on a jury in this country... but it is important to get past the screeners to be able to provide balance and integrity to a system that is sorely in need of such.
 
There is a little pocket book: "The U.S. Constitution - And Fascinating Facts About It" publushed by Oak Hill Publishing. Some useless trivia, but a nice size to carry around and whip out when some uninformed person starts spouting facts that are incorrect. They sometimes hand these out in campaign offices.
