Three pounds of honey;
One pound of fresh blueberries;
Add water, pitch yeast.

Not very poetic, but it fits the 5-7-5 rule well enough. ;D

Fresh honey so sweet;
Pitch yeast begins the journey;
New meads for drinking.

Cysers are calling;
Fall apples are perfect now;
Cinnamon spicy.

Well played sir!

Yeast like drifts of snow
settle 'neath the golden sun
of the winter mead.

:) As I sit in my shirt sleeves on the back patio, this is about as close to winter snows as I'm going to get. For all you folks shivering in the cold and snow, I wish you a warm and happy new year!

OK, two more... Two cups of coffee and the synapses are starting to fire.

Hive collects nectar;
It's transformed into honey;
Praise bees for our meads.

Honey's great purpose;
Create meads for our pleasure;
Just don't drink too much. ;D

Sandman, if someone can't restrain themselves, you can change your last line to:

Black outs come too soon! :cheers:

Okay, seriously, I love the "Praise bees" line. Yeah Bees!

Just read The Compleat Meadmaker and am overwhelmed by the sophistication and flowery language. How about this...

Just a simple guy
Pour the mead in dixie cups
Drink it with some friends

or...

You do all of that?
I've got a long way to go.
Gawd! This stuff tastes good!

Hmmmm...

Bees fly and bees land
on blossoms of flowers grand
at hive mead begins

Nice Eric. It's poetic, it scans and it rhymes.

I've got to think of a winter mead haiku.
Maybe I'll have something tonight.

Summer raindrops fall
to calm boiling airlocks and
soothe away fusels.

Yes, the fermenters are full again (though I might be able to clear some space over a thirsty long weekend). ;D

As we roll into summer (and the rainy season here), I want to wish everyone a great Memorial Day weekend.

It is May, minus
10%, WAS going to
buy Mayhaw juice. :(

The sad face doesn't count as a syllable does it?

Empty fermenters.
So sad! Seven are stagnant.
Anyone hiring?

Oh, Honey! My friend!
Yeast, water, nutrients, air!
A fine thing happens.

I miss roiling must
My stash is almost extinct
time to ferment more...

Call it the "Mead Blues". A touch of existentialism but an opera all the same.

Oh ye of “Little Head Space”

Not quite Haiku. Traditional Haiku (Wiki link) uses only 17 syllables and in the West, typically consists of three lines with 5 syllables, 7 syllables and another 5 syllables. It's amazing how much imagery you can cram into such little space!

Maybe it's time to start a poetry thread to expand on our evergrowing collection of fermentation literary fine art!

And yes, I'm including puns in the "Fine Art". We have some Masters here!
