Started a 3 gallon batch of JAO last Sunday. I used 10-1/2 pounds of honey, and a couple of handfuls of blueberries, and the other usual ingredients for this recipe, and water to 3 gallons.

Before pitching yeast, I got a SG of 1.035. Looked today at my previous batch, and the initial SG was 1.135. Did I not use enough honey on this batch? Today is day 3 of the fermentation.

1. What will my results be because of this?

2. What should I do about it?

If you are certain about your measurements (both the honey and the water) then it is very likely that you just didn't dissolve all the honey into the solution before you took your first gravity reading. For 3 gallons total must volume, 10-1/2 pounds of honey should yield a starting gravity around 1.120-ish.

Bottom line - I think you're fine for ingredients ratios. But you might want to stir/shake up that batch a bit more! ;)
