Hey! In Daytona you'd be just up the street from me! WOOT! Another mazer to share with.

Think you can stand the hurricanes?

That's an interesting group of people.
I am a computer programmer transitioning into a project manager working with fixed income systems. Married for 4 years.
Hobies include mead making (new), pottery, scuba diving and kayaking. Intend to build one kayak in the next year or so.

McFeeley,

Where in Illinois? Iowa, especially Cedar Rapids, isn't all that far from western Illinois when it comes time to share my first batches...

Sorry, I'm a late responder. I'm down in Southeast Illinois, and as Joe Mattioli would tell you, I'm way too much of a "homebody." My routine is getting off a third shift local hospital job, get my daughter off to school, walk the dogs, check out the Internet, go to to bed. I won't post the exact location since this is an open forum on the Internet. Yikes! I'm a mental health worker -- I need my privacy!

Joe M. is right (per his back channel comments to me) -- I need to get out more, but, unfortunately, there aren't any local homebrewing/meadmaking groups in my local area. The Internet is my main link to the meadmaking community!

Well, my job isn't as great as others here and it sounds like i am the youngest too. Luckily I live in michigan so I work in the auto industry. Lucky me! Please go buy a car!!!! I'm a welder by trade. Not lucky there. Hope to go to school in january. Dosen't look that way under the Bush economic plan! Sorry I had to we are 4 days out from the big day. Hobbies well meadmaker, which led to brewer, which also led to beekeeper know that I own my own house. Which also led to beer conissuer ;D Next is blacksmithing for the end result of bladesmith. And I live in an area with a large amish population and I am really thinking about farming on a small scale, someday, and woodworking. Other than that not much to say.

I am the Information Technology Specialist for a police department. Basically, if it deals with computers or software, it falls under my perview. I've been here for almost two years now. Before this, I taught computer classes for a New Horizons Computer Learning Center, worked as an aquatics director at the local Boy Scout camp, worked as a computer technician while in college (at the greatest school in the universe, Texas A&M University), and had various odd jobs before that.

On the personal side, I've been married for 4 years and have no kids (yet). We've got a cat, or rather, she's got us, and my wife feeds any strays that happen to wander into our yard. I love football, so I'm real happy this time of year. I'm especially happy that my Aggies are doing so well this year (much better than I had expected). I've only recently started making mead, and expect to have my first batch basically ready in the next few weeks.

Well, I suppose it's time for me to chime in now that RealLife(tm) has slowed down a bit. I am 31, married (4 years), and have 3 kids (yeah, yeah, we missed a year, I know) all boys.

As for a job I am a Software Developer/Programmer for a top tier online brokerage firm.

Pretty late in the day, but there's still time to introduce myself on this thread.

I just turned 26, and I'm feeling pretty old. Not because 26 is all that far on in life, but because I'm really not sure where to go from here.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently I'm employed as a patient attendant at all the various hospitals in the region. I go where I'm needed. Most of my patients are geriatric, or have mental health problems, and it's my job to keep them from hurting themselves for the duration of a 12 hour shift. Been doing this for about a year and a half. Mostly night shifts. Pretty dull, but I get a lot of reading done.

Before that, I've done heavy industrial work in British Columbia, Daycare work in Ontario, and all sorts of random volunteer work for non-profit organizations accross eastern Canada. I've done two years towards a philosophy degree, but I didn't think that was going anywhere and quit/dropped out before finishing.

I have a thousand and one diverse and usless talents and interests. I juggle, play guitar, maintain a semi-feral clump of hop vines, know a fair bit about keeping bees (despite having no hives of my own), brew beer and mead, am doing reaseach for a book about hitch hiking and an unrelated semi-fictional work based on my family's history in agricultural New Brunswick and Maine.

I guess that's about all I have to say for myself for the moment. Don't feel I've done myself justice, but that will do for now.

I'm a 26 years young Brit living in London, I've just finished my degree in Development Studies and am now postgrading in GIS systems, whilst looking for a job and dodging creditors. I've always fancied a crack at brewing - initially to generate cheap alcohol and had a penchant for mead from a very early age (We love our 18+ alcohol laws but not our booze prices ) ;).

Other hobbies include also wargaming and RPGs, travelling, throwing house parties and occasionally sports like fencing, hockey and rowing. I'm also a part-time member of the Royal Engineers. My flatmate is seriously into home-made liquers, so we're booking our spare liver transplants now
;D .

I'm 53 years old married with 3 grown childred, 2 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

I just sold my business which was a chain of 43 gasoline convenience stores here in the northwest.

So I guess I'm retired till I run out of money.

My hobbies keep me busy, I own two aircraft and fly idaho's back country and have 32 years of flying experience.

My other hobbies are all pretty much outdoor related such as hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting, atv's, motorcycles and anything outdoor related.

I am totally new to mead and find it a fun and rewarding sport!

Now there's a happy guy! With a bottle of Clos Du Bois Chardonnay in hand, a dog at his side, a stogie and a boat for some fun!

Oskaar

a dangerous bee keeper at that! i checked my last batch and there was a pouch full of viagra steeping in it! :o

i think she wants my heart to stop ::)

Retired til you run out of money, entrepenuer, 32 years Flying, Motorcycles, grown children, in your fifties, loves horses and animals and thinks mead is a lot of fun! By Gosh, we got a heck of a lot in common except my wife says I definitely don't need the viagra in my pouch ;D
Joe

i didn't think i needed it either....

mmmmm? might be a hint to pay more attention to her and less to the mead....

i need a mead... brb

Well where to go from there? I own a small Motion Picture Production Company and in 2000 moved from Los Angeles back to San Francisco's Peninsula after 7 years in LA. I used to live 2 blocks off Sunset Blvd and now I live in a neighborhoood with Families, so the movie biz is slow. No motivation, no electricity in the air. I live in a very rich area and HATE all the snobs that live here. I have my own handyman business that pays the bills, but have shop where I make anything from brewing equipment to custom motorcyle frames. I too have an awesome 9 years old Red Siberian Husky. Not married and no children and don't plan on it EVER!!
