Also a bottle drying stand and some bottle washing/sterilizing gadgets.

I keep looking for those craigslist deals, but so far I've been beat out of them.

But I have been collecting what I need to start something other than Joe's, which is exciting. Just the general stuff, nothing fancy (yet) but it's pretty darned exciting to me!

Now I just have to decide what kind of mead to do first. :) Well, second, if you count Joe's.

2 - 96 Oz cans Vintners Harvest Cherry Wine Base
2 - 96 Oz cans Vintners harvest Blackberry Wine Base
Nice Italian floor corker - It is such a pleasure to bottle now!
A bunch of chemicals, yeast, energizers and nutrients.
2 - 6 gallon, 1 - 5 gallon, and 1 - 3 gallon carboy.
24 pounds of Clover Honey (from COSTCO -).
More bottles than I care to count.
2 more blackberry plants, which may or may not survive to produce berries.

What I now need is more room in my house - All by brewing takes place in my once dedicated office.

Score!

Craigslist came through for me this weekend--1 3 gallon carboy, 11 5 gallon carboys, and 1 7 gallon carboy. Woot! Most of the carboys came from an older couple who hadn't made wine in years--they are really dusty, dirty and cobwebby (the carboys, not the couple)--so they're like 25 years old. A few of them look like Ole Greenie's siblings!

Of course, I am sharing with my son, but still--it's a good take.

Now I need to get to Sacramento Beekeeping Supplies to see what kind of honey they have. Honey is what I'm needing at the moment.

/wondering if a fall mead with pumpkin would be ready by November if I started it now...

And those new hives ROCK. More hives=more bees=more honey!

Good job Wildoates! I check craigslist every morning. I have an easy setup that opens the 3 towns in my area with the search already done. I search multiple items at the same time by separating them with a "pipe", that's the vertical line that is usually a shift+backslash. so I search for beer|wine|carboy|keg . Then I save each search in each town in a bookmark, in a group. Then I can open the whole group with a couple of clicks. I also mark the top item by clicking on it. That changes it's color so I always know which posts are new since the last time I checked.

Craigslist Rules!

Greenie Lives! Way to go!!!

BTW - be careful with those older smooth-walled green carboys. They are thin all around the circumference (unlike the ridged ones) and they don't only self-destruct if set on an uneven surface - they can also crack if bumped up against one another. I've seen that happen in years past, too.

Sir I am stealing your craigslist technique.

That's a sweet score! I just bottled a pumpkin spice mead. Two months ago, I sampled it and wasn't very impressed. It tasted like bland alcohol, with some spices mixed in. I was sure I was going to have to mix in some apple juice concentrate and try to give it some complexity. I had the juice on hand, but when I took another sample, I found it tasted great. It's 7 months old, which is about how much time you have betwen now and November.

It is best to deal with local buyers. On Craigslist, it is possible to arrange shipping for your items and most people do this with small things. You may think it is easier to pay an extra $3 for shipping than drive an hour to pickup a bracelet. You can do this, but i believe it isn't recommended with expensive items. Do you agree with me..

I always buy local when I can. Until recently I didn't have a local source for bulk honey that was cost effective so I had to pay shipping charges. But now I get everything that I need within 50 miles of home (and that's considered "local" out here, for all you guys back east!) ;D

Growing up where I did local for us was anything within 100 miles;D (and if you were telling someone how far a place was you told them in miles not in time)

Back to the topic on hand, my most recent purchases were new carboys to replace the three that shattered outside.
