Strawberry Melomel – Sweet- One year old – Color: Dark golden straw, with a touch of pink. The nose shows a touch of oxidation, over delicate strawberry, with a honey note beneath. Upon tasting, the oxidation is again present, but has melded with the strawberry and honey to give an almost sherry-like character, not at all unpleasant. The mouthfeel is full and rich, the honey notes harmonizing with the delicate strawberry in a very pleasing combination. The finish is very long, lingering honey notes, and the oxidation as a slight undertone. I'd like this with greek food, and large flavored cheeses like gouda.
At just over a year old, and not cellared in a perfect environment, this melomel has kept very well, and is very drinkable. I recommend you try it.
