From the winery:
Made from 92% blackberries and 8% honey. Gold and silver medal winner.
Made from honey and blackberries, this is a great dessert wine; perfect to sip after dinner, or serve with your favorite cheese and fruit.
It is moderately sweet and should be served chilled.
GOLD MEDAL WINNER:
1999 Indiana International Wine Competition
Appearance:
This mead presents a rich ruby color when viewed against the light. Upon swirling, this mead coats the glass well, developing good legs. This mead gives the impression of body and fullness.
Aroma and Flavor:
There is a strong fruity nose, with a honey undertones upon moderate swirling. A slight rose note is detectable upon further swirling.
A well rounded mouth feel gives this slightly sweet mead a well-balanced feel. The top note is moderate honey, followed by a solid fruity character, and finishes with a slight acidic finish.
Overall Impressions:
This mead is an excellent accompaniment to meads and heavier cheeses. We are impressed with the mead, and can see the winery's expertise with grape wines showing through in this presentation, giving a well-balanced mead that would show well in place of a merlot or chambourcin.
