4-21-26 – Tonight we’re talking with Blair Housley, owner of Etowah Meadery in Dalonega, Georgia.

A Dahlonega native, Blair grew up fishing and exploring along the Etowah River—a place that shaped his connection to North Georgia and later inspired the name and roots of Etowah.

At 21, Blair joined the U.S. Air Force, an experience that strengthened the disciplined, process-driven approach he brings to building brands and crafting beverages. More than 15 years ago, he began brewing beer and mead as a hobby and quickly became focused on honey fermentation and the potential of mead as a modern craft staple. Blair’s belief is simple: mead is the perfect natural alcohol beverage.

What began as a hobby in his garage and winning over two dozen medals, he decided to turn it into a business. In 2016, Blair founded Etowah to make mead more approachable, refined, and relevant, built to stand confidently alongside beer, cider, and cocktails. Etowah is recognized as one the most awarded meaderies in the Southeast with over 60 commercial mead awards and over a dozen craft beer awards to-date, with flagship mead favorites including RB&B, Black & Blue, Granny’s Apple Pie, Stone Pile Peach, and Georgia Standard.
