Since I really like spicy food, I have been thinking about brewing a capsumel; maybe a chocolate capsumel made with cocoa powder, a smokey hot pepper and long aging. However, I have never actually tasted a capsumel and think that I probably should before I try making my own.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good capsumel that I may be able to buy locally in San Diego or have shipped to California?

I would also be interested in purchasing a commercially available mead with cinnamon, since this is another ingredient I have never tried in mead but interests me.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Dan

Not sure what they have available, but last I checked BNektar shipped to CA.

Edit: I'm having trouble finding a way to order online like in the past...maybe they've changed that.

BNektar makes a Cherry Chipotle mead that is phenominal. It is like 4 drinks in one. You first taste the honey then the cherry then the smoke followed by a slight tingle of heat when you swallow it. I always keep a small stash of it in my mead rack. My wife, who isn't a big fan of hot food, also loves it. If you can get it, I highly recommend it.
